Mindful Movement

Movement is medicine. Recent studies about movement show that mindful, gentle movement has great health benefits for the mind and body. Slow movement helps to stimulate the lymphatic system, which rids the body of toxins. It also initiates the parasympathetic nervous system, which decreases stress, boosts the immune system, and increases energy flow and the flow of healing hormones throughout the body. Since these healing hormones are not needed for muscle repair (like they are after intense exercise), they can be used throughout the body for reparations. In the mind, this initiation of the parasympathetic nervous system creates feelings of peace, presence, and relaxation.

Cultivate Gratitude

Developing a regular gratitude practice, whether through yoga, mindfulness or gratitude journaling, has positive affects on our overall well-being, health and happiness.

There is a growing body of research that establishes gratitude as a practice with a whole host of physical and psychological benefits. Grateful people enjoy stronger relationships and are more likely to be optimistic, inspired, and empathetic.

Cultivating a mind-set of gratitude has also been linked to increased levels of immunity, higher sleep quality, and improved heart health.  It can also help you heal from emotional trauma.

Just as you exercise your body, you can exercise your mind to view the world in new ways. A few minutes is all it takes to cultivate gratitude and experience the benefits of this new superfood!

Finding Balance

The first step in finding balance is a shift in mindset to one of self-care. Self-care is essential to our overall well-being and when we practice self-care we are not only able to show up for ourselves, but we are able to be there for others.

Are you willing to shift your mindset to one of overall well-being that includes finding balance in your life?
